Agri-Environment Terms of Reference

General

To keep abreast of policy and other development in agriculture which have significance, whether good or bad, for nature conservation and the countryside in Northern Ireland and to consult and inform the full Council as appropriate on these matters.

Specific

To consider need for CNCC position papers on agriculture and the environment, whether holistically or by particular topic on which to base CNCC advice to Government.

To consider in liaison with full Council as appropriate, the content, format and timeframe of such papers and to draft accordingly.

To evaluate each consultation paper submitted to CNCC relating to agriculture and the environment and to draft responses for issue by Chairman on behalf of CNCC.

To pursue discussions with DARD/DoE officials as appropriate, to obtain appreciation of particular Agri-Environment issues and of official thinking on those issues.
