EFFICIENT FARMING CUTS GREENHOUSE GASES

CNCC is represented on the DARD Agri-food and Forestry Greenhouse Gas Stakeholder Group which has been investigating ways of reducing GHG production across the sector. The result of the Group's deliberations is a report Efficient Farming Cuts Greenhouse Gases, which is available to download at the link below:

http://www.dardni.gov.uk/index/publications/pubs-dard-environmental/publications-environment-efficient-ghg-report.htm

It should be noted that the primary focus of this report was that the primary target should be efficiency savings. In other words that the aim would be to produce more food for the same amount of GHG released. This was a majority view of the Stakeholder Group, which CNCC was not entirely happy with. However, the overall message of the report is so positive that we have agreed to post the link to the report on this website.

The Stakeholder Group has now become the Agri-food and Forestry Greenhouse Gas Implementation Partnership, which CNCC will continue to be part of, working to put the recommendations of the report into practice.
